Wealthy fans of extreme-speed hypercars waited for the serial production of one of the impressive representatives of this segment – SSC Tuatara from the American company SSC North America. Recall, the debut of the prototype model took place in 2011. And only now at the specialized exhibition in Philadelphia the official premiere of the serial version of an extraordinary car took place. True, “serial” is quite loudly said, because only 100 copies of the SSC Tuatara will be released.
The coupe, named after the New Zealand lizard, is powered by a 5.9-liter V8 engine that develops 1,350 hp. power on gasoline. On a special E85 mixture, its performance generally reaches an incredible 1,750 “horses”. The rear-wheel drive transmission is driven by a 7-speed transmission. At the same time, despite the pronounced predisposition of the model to exceptional speeds, and not to everyday “peaceful” movement around the city, it is also equipped with “everyday” comfort elements. For example, this is a multimedia system with a touch screen, premium acoustics and climate control.
By the way, about speed capabilities. At one time, the SSC Ultimate Aero (this is the predecessor of Tuatara) was the world record holder for speed, but later it was beaten by the Bugatti Veyron SS, Koenigsegg Agera RS and the Bugatti Chiron SS 300+. Perhaps the current debutant will try to restore the status quo. The company has not yet reported the cost of the hypercar.
